It's not often that a company in our industry makes mainstream news - but, Pantone made it in this Bloomberg Business article.

Some interesting tidbits from this article:

Pantone in 2014 had a banner year - and grew more than any other time in it's 53 year history.

Adobe has a digital color wheel - at this link - that is very cool (you'll need to sign in with your Adobe account to access the color wheel).

"Of Pantone’s 120 employees, the mix-masters in the ink room now take a back seat to the "color economists" and "color psychologists."

It's really a world economy, and Pantone is a source of standardization - where a Pantone color printed in Pittsburgh, PA would be the same as a Pantone color printed in Vietnam.

In any case, color consistency is big business, and Pantone is in the forefront.

"Fiery servers running Windows® 7 or Windows 8.1 will not support the Windows 10 upgrade directly on the server. Please do not install Windows 10 directly on your Fiery server.

If the Fiery server is upgraded to Windows 10, it will not operate and the system will have to be rebuilt from original software disks or backup images.

Microsoft announced that a Windows 10 upgrade can be performed through Windows Updates starting July 29th. A "Get Windows 10" notification may pop up on your Fiery server asking you to upgrade to Windows 10. Please dismiss the notification."

We've actually been hearing a few good things about Windows 10, but we would provide the same advice. If Windows 10 will break a Fiery server, it could very easily break other software that is being used. Our advice is to not be an early adopter - let the problems and their resolutions be discovered and resolved before upgrading.

Photo Pearl 310 gsm (at this link on Hahnemuhle's website) is close to Ilford Smooth Pearl with a slightly different white point. It's very close and anyone who has used the Ilford will have no problem using the Hahnemuhle Photo Pearl 310.

Printer manufacturers generally follow the rule that says that the less that you pay for a printer, the more that you pay for consumables.
